How to Configure Assessment Settings

Testlify allows you to fine-tune the behavior of your assessments using the Configuration tab. These settings let you enhance the test experience for candidates, apply additional controls, and enable smart features to improve evaluation and hiring outcomes.

Follow the steps below to customize the configuration:

Step 1: Navigate to Configuration Settings

1. Log in to your Testlify account.
2. Go to the Assessments tab.
3. Select the desired assessment.
4. In the left sidebar, click Settings.
5. At the top, select the Configuration tab.

Step 2: Available Settings Explained

Here’s what each toggle in the Configuration tab does:

• Allow candidates to request accommodation

  Enables a candidate to request test accommodations (e.g., extended time).

• Restrict access from mobile/tablet devices

  Ensures the assessment can only be accessed via a desktop/laptop to maintain integrity.

• Accessibility options

  Improves test experience for candidates with specific accessibility needs.

• Practice mode

  Lets candidates take a non-scored version of the assessment beforehand.

• Back navigation

  Allows candidates to go back and revisit previous questions.

• On-screen calculator

  Provides candidates with a basic calculator during the test.

• All questions mandatory

  Forces candidates to answer every question before they can submit the test.

• Present custom questions in a random order (Coming soon)

  Will allow randomization of custom questions (currently not available).

AI-Powered Features

• AI insights

  These appear at the top of the Candidate Report and offer an overall summary of the candidate’s performance, highlighting key strengths and areas for improvement.

• AI-suggested interview questions

  The AI-suggested interview questions feature provides personalized, role-specific questions tailored to each candidate's assessment performance. Based on their answers and the test they completed, the AI generates a set of thoughtful, structured interview questions to help hiring managers and recruiters conduct more focused and effective interviews. This allows you to dive deeper into a candidate’s competencies that were either hinted at or not fully explored during the test.

🛈 Important Note: These AI-generated questions are visible only in your candidate report view. They are not shared with candidates and do not appear in the candidate’s downloadable PDF report.

Additional Options

• Send results to candidates upon completion

  Automatically sends their performance results to candidates once they finish the assessment.

• Spell check

  Enables basic spell checking for text-based answers.

• Mobile app fallback

  Allows the test to continue on a mobile-friendly interface if the web version fails to load.

Step 4: Save Your Settings

Once you’ve made your selections:

• Scroll to the bottom.
• Click the Save button to apply the changes.

With these customizable settings, you can create a tailored, fair, and efficient assessment experience that meets your hiring needs—empowering you to identify the best candidates with confidence.
