Use AI Insights to Evaluate Candidate Performance

AI Insights automatically generates performance summaries, strengths, and improvement areas for each candidate. Available across all test types and selected custom question types, AI Insights helps hiring teams make faster, better-informed decisions and gives candidates actionable feedback on their skills.

Before you begin

You need an active Testlify account with permission to edit assessment settings.
AI Insights must be enabled per assessment — it is not on by default.

What AI Insights include

AI Insights appear on the Candidate Display Page (CDP) and in Shareable Report Links. Each insight includes:

A short performance summary
Pros — candidate strengths
Cons — areas for improvement
A Regenerate button to refresh feedback after score updates
Like/Dislike feedback buttons so recruiters can rate insight quality

How to enable AI Insights

Phase 1: Employer view (CDP and Shareable Report)

Navigate to Assessment Settings → Configuration tab.
Enable the "AI Insights" checkbox.

Phase 2: Candidate view (Email Reports)

Go to Assessment Settings → Reports.
Check "Show candidate AI insights".

Once enabled, AI Insights are included when:

Sending an automatic results email to all candidates
Sending individual results manually

When AI Insights are generated

A "Generating AI Insights…" loader appears during processing. Insights are generated or refreshed:

On the first visit to the CDP or Shareable Report
When scores are updated
When Regenerate is clicked manually

Tip: If you manually adjust a candidate's score, click Regenerate to get updated insights that reflect the latest data.

What insights are based on

AI Insights analyze:

Test-level and skill-level scores
Custom questions and answers added by recruiters
Performance patterns across multiple areas

Insights are text-only — designed to be actionable and easy to interpret.
