Set a Timezone for Assessments in Testlify

Testlify lets you assign a timezone to each assessment so candidates automatically see the submission deadline in their local time — no manual conversion needed. This is especially useful for global hiring where candidates span multiple regions.

Before you begin

  • You need Employer or Admin access in your workspace.
  • The assessment must already exist before you can edit its settings.

Set the assessment timezone

  1. Log in to your workspace at app.testlify.com using your registered email and OTP.

  2. Select the assessment you want to configure.

  3. Click Edit on the assessment page to open its settings.

  4. Navigate to Settings, then select Access.

  5. Under Assessment Submission Deadline, click the dropdown and select the desired date and time.

  6. Confirm the exact deadline date and time.

  7. Click Timezone, choose the candidate's timezone from the dropdown, then Save.

Tip: For candidates in large countries with multiple timezones (e.g., the United States or Australia), confirm the specific city or region before selecting. Choosing "US/Eastern" instead of "US/Central" shifts the deadline by a full hour.

How it works

Once you save the timezone, candidates receive their invitation email with the deadline displayed in their local time. They do not need to configure anything. Testlify also handles Daylight Saving Time changes automatically, keeping deadlines accurate year-round.

What is the default timezone if I don't set one?

Testlify uses your workspace timezone by default. For global candidates, always set an explicit timezone to avoid deadline confusion.

Can I change the timezone after sending the assessment?

Yes. Go to Settings > Access and update the deadline and timezone at any time. Changes take effect immediately.

Do candidates need to set their own timezone?

No. The deadline automatically displays in the candidate's local time based on the timezone you configure — no action required from the candidate.

What if a candidate is in a country with multiple timezones?

Select the specific timezone for the candidate's location. If unsure, confirm with the candidate before sending the invitation to prevent any misalignment.

Will I receive alerts when candidates approach the deadline?

Automated deadline alerts are not currently available. Monitor submission status directly from your dashboard.

How do I verify that a candidate sees the correct deadline?

Ask the candidate to confirm the deadline shown in their invitation email. If the time appears incorrect, have them clear their browser cache or try a different browser. You can also reach out to support@testlify.com for further help.

Does Testlify support Daylight Saving Time?

Yes. The timezone feature accounts for DST changes automatically, so deadlines remain accurate in regions that observe it.
