Understanding SQL Test Levels (L1–L4) on Testlify

Testlify offers multiple difficulty levels for the SQL test—L1, L2, L3, and L4—to help you assess candidates based on their experience and proficiency. These levels are all derived from the same core test library and are configured with a different mix of easy, medium, and hard questions.

📘 What are the SQL Levels?

Each SQL test level pulls questions from a shared SQL question library, covering essential skill areas like querying, joins, aggregations, subqueries, optimisation, and more. However, the distribution of question difficulty varies by level:

  • L1: 8 Easy, 4 Medium, 3 Hard questions
  • L2: 6 Easy, 6 Medium, 3 Hard questions
  • L3 and L4: Similar configurations with increased complexity and harder question ratios (details may vary based on updates)

🔁 Why is the test description the same across levels?

All four levels—L1 to L4—are built from the same underlying test library. The description remains consistent across these levels because it reflects the full range of skills covered by the library, not the specific distribution of difficulty in a given level.

This helps maintain transparency about what core skills are being evaluated, regardless of difficulty level.

✅ When should you use each level?

  • L1: Ideal for junior or entry-level candidates
  • L2: Suitable for mid-level roles
  • L3–L4: Recommended for senior-level or specialist SQL roles
