Create Custom Questions Using the Testlify Test Library

Before you begin

Confirm you have Employer access in your Testlify workspace and have identified the skills you want to assess (for example, JavaScript, Excel proficiency, or PowerPoint).

Step 1: Create a Company Test

Log in to your Testlify dashboard.
Navigate to the Company Test section.
Click Create Company Test.

Fill in the test name, type, and description.
Enter the number of questions for the test.
Add the skills to be assessed (for example, JavaScript or Excel proficiency).
Click Next to proceed.

Step 2: Add Questions to Your Test

You can add questions in two ways: build them from scratch or select them from the Testlify Test Library.

Build from scratch — create questions tailored to your specific role. Supported formats include:

Excel Questions — test candidates on spreadsheet tasks
Document Questions — require candidates to complete tasks in Word documents
Google Slides Questions — assess presentation skills in Google Slides
Presentation (PPT) Questions — evaluate PowerPoint proficiency

Use the Test Library — browse and add pre-built, quality-validated questions by skill or topic:

Click Add Questions and select Test Library.
Search or browse by skill or topic to find relevant questions.
Select the questions you want and click Select.
Edit any question to adjust wording, answer options, or scoring as needed.

Tip: Library questions are pre-validated for quality. Modify the wording only when your role requires specific context — keep all other changes minimal.

Step 3: Review Candidate Results

After a candidate completes the assessment, results are available immediately in their profile:

Scoring — candidates earn one mark per correct answer. Scores appear automatically in their results.

Final Report — all responses and scores are included in the candidate's final report, giving you a clear breakdown of performance across every question type.
