Introduction

At Testlify, we’re committed to providing the best experience for both recruiters and candidates. As part of this commitment, our test libraries are constantly updated by subject matter experts (SMEs) to ensure the most accurate and relevant content.

In this article, we’ll explain how updates to our test libraries affect candidate experience and how we ensure fairness across different versions of assessments.

Candidate Experience with Updated Test Libraries

Candidates who haven't started their assessments will always see the latest version of our test library. This means that when we update or improve a test, candidates who begin after the update will receive the updated version, while those who have already started will continue with the version they began.

To further enhance the assessment process, Testlify uses randomized questions pulled from a larger question pool. This randomization ensures that even if two candidates take the same assessment, they may receive different sets of questions. As a result, this reduces the likelihood that any two candidates will face identical questions, adding an extra layer of fairness and preventing potential advantages for one candidate over another.

Reconciling Results Between Different Versions

When updates are made to our assessments, it’s possible that candidates taking the same test at different times will encounter slightly different versions. For example, if Candidate A takes an assessment using version 1, and after identifying an issue with a question, our SMEs update the assessment to version 2, Candidate B will take the updated version with the corrected question.

While this ensures future candidates are not affected by previous errors, it does introduce some variation between versions. For instance, if Candidate A encountered an incorrect question and Candidate B did not, reconciling results may not always be perfectly equal.

However, our use of randomized questions helps mitigate this variation. Since no two candidates are likely to receive the exact same set of questions, differences between versions are less impactful on the overall fairness of the results.

Ensuring Fairness in the Testing Process

At Testlify, we take several steps to ensure that all candidates have a fair experience, regardless of when they take the test or which version of the test they encounter. These steps include:

  1. Constant Updates and Improvements: Our SMEs frequently review and update tests to ensure that they remain accurate, relevant, and free of errors.

  2. Question Pool Randomization: By drawing random questions from a large pool, we minimize the likelihood that two candidates will receive the same set of questions, helping to ensure fairness.

  3. Error Correction and Version Control: When errors are identified in a test, we update the content quickly to ensure future candidates aren’t affected. We strive to make these updates as seamless as possible to avoid disruption.

Conclusion

Our goal at Testlify is to provide an accurate and fair assessment experience for every candidate. By maintaining updated test libraries, using question randomization, and continuously improving our assessments, we ensure that both candidates and recruiters benefit from a high-quality testing process.
