Creating a practical custom question allows you to test candidates on real-world scenarios by allowing them to download, edit, and upload files directly within the assessment. Here's how you can create one

Step-by-Step Guide:

  1. Start by Creating or Editing an Assessment

    • Once you've either created or editing an assessment, navigate to the Questions tab.

    • Here, you'll find the Custom Question features available for you to add or modify questions.

  2. Select the Practical Question Feature

    • Choose the Practical Question option.

    • Set the completion time for the question, determining how long the candidate will have to complete the task.

  3. Add Your Question

    • On the left side of the screen, you’ll see a box to enter your question.

    • This is where you can describe the task or scenario the candidate needs to complete.

  4. Upload a Reference File (Optional)

    • On the right side of the screen, there’s an option to upload any files you want the candidates to download.

    • For example, if you want the candidate to edit a design, you can upload the design file.

    • You can upload files in any format you wish (e.g., PDF, PNG, DOCX).

  5. Set Required Upload Formats

    • Below the file upload box, there’s an option to define the file format(s) you want candidates to use when submitting their answers.

    • Type in the required format(s) (e.g., .pdf, .docx, .png), then click Add to apply these formats. Candidates will be prompted to upload files in these specific formats.

  6. Additional Settings (Optional)

    • Click Show Options under the question box for additional settings.

    • You can:

      • Allow candidates to add comments to their answers.

      • Mark the question as mandatory for completion.

      • Choose whether the question should be scorable or not and assign the score value.

  7. Review and Score

    • Once the candidate completes the assessment, you’ll have access to the file they uploaded. You can download it, review the answer, and score it accordingly.

Pro Tip:

It's highly recommended to enable Screen Sharing Proctoring for practical questions. This will allow you to access a recording of the candidate’s screen while they complete the task, providing greater insight into how they approached and solved the problem.
