Enable Location Tracking Proctoring for Assessments
The Location Tracking proctoring feature captures a candidate's location throughout an assessment, so you can confirm they are testing from an approved area.
Before you begin
- You need an existing assessment, or be ready to create one.
- Candidates must grant browser location permission when starting the assessment. Without permission, Testlify cannot capture location data.
Enable Location Tracking
- Open the assessment you want to configure — create a new one or edit an existing one.
- Go to the assessment settings and click the Proctoring tab.

- Check the Location Tracking checkbox.

- Click Save.
Review Location Data
- Testlify records the candidate's location continuously during the assessment.
- Once the assessment ends, the tracked location appears on the Candidate Display Page.

- VPN note: If a candidate uses a VPN, the report shows the VPN's location, not their physical location. Keep this in mind when reviewing results.
Tip: For stronger proctoring coverage, combine Location Tracking with Snapshot Proctoring or Screen Recording.
