Enable and Configure Tab Proctoring

Tab Proctoring in Testlify monitors candidate tab-switching behaviour during assessments to help maintain test integrity. Use this guide to enable and configure the feature on any assessment.

Before you begin

Ensure you have Admin or Assessments Manager permissions in your workspace before changing assessment settings.

Step 1: Access the Proctoring Settings

  1. Log in to your Testlify workspace.
  2. Navigate to the assessment where you want to enable proctoring.
  3. Click Assessment Settings, then select the Proctoring tab.

Step 2: Enable Tab Proctoring

  1. Within the Proctoring tab, locate the Tab Proctoring option.
  2. Check the box next to Tab Proctoring to enable it.
  3. Once enabled, the system automatically records every tab switch the candidate makes as a violation.

Step 3: Configure Violation Handling

  1. Choose how the system responds to each tab switch: Warn the candidate or Terminate the assessment.
  2. If you select Terminate, set a Violation Limit. Candidates who exceed this limit are automatically disqualified.

Tip: To review behaviour without automatic disqualification, choose Warn. All violations are still logged so you can make the final call after the assessment ends.

Reviewing Violation Logs

  • Every tab switch is recorded as a violation in the assessment report.
  • Open the candidate's report after the assessment to view the full violation log and audit their behaviour.
