How to Preview an Assessment as a Candidate on Testlify

Previewing an assessment lets you experience it exactly as your candidates will — including all question types, proctoring steps, and results — before sending any invitations.

Before you begin

Make sure you have at least one assessment created in your Testlify workspace.

Preview the assessment

  1. Log in to your Testlify account and go to the Assessments tab.

  2. Select the assessment you want to preview.

  3. Click Preview on the assessment details page.

  4. Complete the assessment — answer each question type (multiple choice, open-ended, coding challenges) and complete any enabled proctoring steps.

  5. Review the results as they appear to candidates, including scores and feedback.

  6. Confirm that proctoring restrictions — such as tab-switching alerts or full-screen mode — trigger correctly before going live.

Tip: Open the preview in an incognito window to simulate a clean candidate session without any cached session data.

Credits and billing

When a workspace member previews an assessment, no candidate credit is charged. Credits are only deducted when an external candidate is invited and completes the assessment.
