Integrate Rippling with Testlify

This guide explains how to connect Rippling Recruiting with Testlify so candidates automatically receive a Testlify assessment invite when they reach a chosen stage of a Rippling job.

Note: The Rippling integration is invite-only. Rippling's API does not allow other tools to update Recruiting data, so Testlify does not move candidates to another stage or write assessment results back to Rippling. Scores and reports stay in Testlify.

Before you begin

• Admin access to your Testlify account.
• A Rippling account with the Recruiting app and permission to create API tokens (Rippling Developer > API tokens).

Step 1: Create an API token in Rippling

1. Log in to Rippling, open Developer > API tokens and create a new token.
2. Under Select API Permissions, search for and select these read permissions: candidates.read, candidate-applications.read and the job requisitions read permission.
3. Click Continue, then copy the token. Rippling shows the token only once, so keep it somewhere safe until you paste it into Testlify.

Step 2: Connect Rippling in Testlify

1. In Testlify, go to Settings > Integrations.
2. Under Supported integrations, search for Rippling and click the Rippling card.
3. Paste the Rippling API token and click Next.
4. Rippling now appears in your integrations list with the status Active.

Step 3: Link Rippling to an assessment

1. Open or create an assessment, go to Settings and open the Integration tab, then click Link.
2. Select Rippling from the ATS drop-down.
3. Choose the Rippling job requisition in Job profile (for example, Program Manager) and the stage that should trigger the invite in Invitation stage (for example, Offer).
4. Click Link, then click Save. The linked job and stage appear in the Integration tab.

Tip: Rippling does not provide a list of job stages, so Testlify shows the stages your candidates have been in for that job. If a stage is missing, move at least one candidate on that job to the stage in Rippling, then open the Link dialog again.

Step 4: Move candidates in Rippling

1. In Rippling, go to Talent > Recruiting > Job requisitions and open the job you linked.
2. Move the candidate to the invitation stage you chose in Testlify (for example, Offer).

Tip: Testlify checks Rippling automatically and sends the assessment invite to candidates in the invitation stage, usually within a few minutes. Each candidate is invited only once per assessment.

Step 5: Track candidates in Testlify

1. Open the assessment in Testlify. Candidates invited from Rippling appear in the All candidates list with the status Invited.
2. When a candidate completes the assessment, review the score and report in Testlify.

Troubleshooting

No jobs appear in the Job profile drop-down

• Check that the Rippling API token has the job requisitions read permission and that the Recruiting app is enabled in your Rippling account.
• If you changed the token's permissions, remove the Rippling integration in Testlify and connect it again with the updated token.

A candidate did not receive the invite

• Make sure the candidate's application is on the linked job and in the selected invitation stage.
• Make sure the candidate has an email address in Rippling.
