How to bulk add additional information fields to an assessment

Additional information fields are the questions candidates fill in before they start your assessment, such as phone number, LinkedIn URL, or years of experience. Instead of adding these one at a time, you can add many fields at once by uploading a CSV file with the Bulk add option.

When to use Bulk add

Bulk add saves the most time when you:

  • Collect the same set of details from every candidate (for example, LinkedIn URL, current CTC, notice period, and resume).
  • Want to plan your fields in a spreadsheet first and share them with your team before building.

For a single field or a quick change, the regular Add button is still the faster option.

Before you begin

  • You need an assessment that is open for editing (a new draft or an existing assessment).
  • You need a spreadsheet tool (Excel, Google Sheets, or Numbers) that can save files as .csv.

Step 1: Open the Bulk add option

  1. Open your assessment and go to Settings.
  2. Click the Information tab.
  3. In the Additional information section, click Bulk add (next to the red Add button).

The Bulk add information fields window opens.

Step 2: Download the CSV template

  1. In the Bulk add information fields window, under 1. Download the CSV template, click Download template.
  2. Save the file to your computer and open it in your spreadsheet tool.

The template includes sample rows that show how each column should be filled in. Replace the sample rows with your own fields.

Step 3: Fill in the template

Add one row for each field you want to add. Use the reference below for the accepted values.

Important: Keep the column headers exactly as they appear in the template. Do not rename, reorder, or delete any columns.

CSV column reference

Column What to enter Accepted values
field_label The name of the field as candidates will see it Any text, for example LinkedIn profile
input_type The kind of answer the candidate provides text , number , email , url , date , dropdown , checkbox , file upload

Input types at a glance

Input type Use it to collect
text Short free-text answers, such as a city or job title
number Numeric values, such as years of experience
email An email address
url A web link, such as a portfolio or LinkedIn profile
date A date, such as date of birth or availability date
dropdown A single choice from a list you define
checkbox A confirmation or consent, such as accepting terms
file upload A document from the candidate, such as a resume

Step 4: Upload your file

  1. Save your completed spreadsheet as a .csv file.
  2. Return to the Bulk add information fields window.
  3. Under 2. Upload your completed file, click Select CSV file and choose your file.
  4. Click Add now.

Tips and troubleshooting

  • Use only the accepted values. Typos in columns such as input_type , status , or the yes/no columns can cause a row to be rejected. Check spelling and remove extra spaces.
  • Save as CSV. Files saved as .xlsx or .xls can't be uploaded. In your spreadsheet tool, choose File → Download / Save as → CSV.
  • Can't click Add now? Make sure you've selected a CSV file first.

FAQs

Can I use Bulk add together with the regular Add button?

Will the default fields (Email, First Name, and so on) be affected?

No. Bulk add only adds the fields listed in your CSV.

Can I reuse the same CSV for another assessment?

Yes. Upload the same file in the Information tab of any other assessment.
