How to set up and use WhatsApp notifications in Testlify

Send assessment invitations, reminders, and other important updates to candidates through WhatsApp. Testlify allows employers to manage WhatsApp notification preferences alongside email and text notifications.

Who can use WhatsApp notifications?

WhatsApp notifications are available for supported Testlify workspaces and notification types. Availability may depend on your workspace plan and the notification configuration.

How to enable WhatsApp notifications

Step 1: Open Notification settings

1. Log in to your Testlify workspace.
2. Click Settings (⚙️) in the top navigation.
3. Select Notifications from the settings menu.

Step 2: Select your notification preset

1. Locate the Preset dropdown.
2. Select the notification preset you want to configure.
3. Review the available notification preferences.

Step 3: Enable WhatsApp notifications

In the notification preference table:

1. Locate the notification type you want to enable.
2. Find the WhatsApp column.
3. Enable WhatsApp for the relevant notification.
4. Save your changes, if prompted.

You can manage WhatsApp preferences alongside Email and Text notifications.

Note: WhatsApp notifications are disabled by default for candidates. Enable them for the notification types you want to send through WhatsApp.

WhatsApp notifications for candidates

Testlify supports WhatsApp notifications for supported candidate events, including:

Invitation

Send candidates their assessment invitation, assessment link, deadline, practice link, and accommodation information where applicable.

Reminder

Remind candidates to complete their assessment, including the assessment link and deadline.

Completion

Notify candidates when they have submitted their assessment.

Result

Share a link to the candidate’s assessment result.

Shortlisted

Notify candidates when they have been shortlisted for the next stage of the selection process.

Rejection

Notify candidates when their application is not moving forward.

WhatsApp notifications for employers

Employers can also configure supported notifications for test administration.

Assessment started

Receive an update when a candidate starts an assessment.

Assessment completed

Receive an update when a candidate completes an assessment, including available submission and report resources where applicable.

Can I customize WhatsApp message templates?

No. WhatsApp message customization is currently not available.

Testlify provides predefined WhatsApp message templates for supported notification types. The messages include relevant assessment and candidate details using supported template variables.

How to manage WhatsApp notification preferences

You can use the notification settings to:

• Enable or disable WhatsApp notifications for supported events.
• Manage Email, Text, and WhatsApp preferences separately.
• Select the appropriate notification preset.
• Review the notification settings for candidates and test administration.

Troubleshooting WhatsApp notifications

Candidates are not receiving WhatsApp notifications

Check the following:

1. Confirm that WhatsApp is enabled for the relevant notification type.
2. Verify that the candidate has a valid phone number associated with their profile.
3. Check that the selected notification preset is correct.
4. Confirm that the notification is supported for the selected event.
5. If the issue continues, contact Testlify Support with the workspace name, candidate details, and notification type.

I cannot find the WhatsApp option

If the WhatsApp column or notification option is not visible:

• Confirm that you are in Settings → Notifications.
• Check your workspace’s notification and plan availability.
• Contact Testlify Support if the option is still unavailable.

I want to change the WhatsApp message

WhatsApp message customization is not currently supported. The predefined templates are used for the supported notification types.
