Role-Based Access Control for Workspace Settings

Role-Based Access Control allows workspace administrators to define what different users can access and manage within Testlify. This helps organizations securely delegate responsibilities while limiting access to sensitive workspace settings.

What's New

We've introduced more granular permissions for Workspace Settings and expanded White Label permissions.

New Workspace Settings Permissions

Two new permission groups are now available under Settings:

• Basic (Profile, Workspace, Branding & Others)
• Access (SSO, 2FA, Audit Log, Data Retention, Text & Voice)

These permissions provide administrators with greater control over which users can access and modify different areas of the workspace.

Note: Both permissions are enabled by default for existing and newly created roles.

White Label Permission Update

The Text & Voice module has been added under the White Label permission group.

The updated White Label permission now includes:

• Domain
• Text & Voice
• SMTP
• Support

Users with the White Label permission can manage all of the above configuration options.

Managing Role Permissions

To configure permissions for a role:

1. Navigate to Settings.
2. Select Roles and Permissions under the Access section.
3. Locate the role you want to modify.
4. Click the ⋮ (More) menu and select Edit.
5. Enable or disable permissions as required.
6. Click Save to apply the changes.

Available Workspace Settings Permissions

Basic (Profile, Workspace, Branding & Others)

Grant this permission to allow users to manage general workspace configuration, including:

• Profile
• Workspace
• Branding
• Other basic workspace settings

Access (SSO, 2FA, Audit Log, Data Retention, Text & Voice)

Grant this permission to allow users to manage security and access-related settings, including:

• SAML SSO
• Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)
• Audit Logs
• Data Retention
• Text & Voice

When to Use These Permissions

These permissions are useful when you want to:

• Allow HR or Operations teams to manage branding without giving them access to security settings.
• Restrict SSO and security configuration to IT administrators.
• Delegate White Label configuration to specific workspace administrators.
• Provide users access only to the settings relevant to their responsibilities.

Default Behavior

• The new Basic and Access permissions are enabled by default.
• Existing role permissions remain unchanged unless modified by a workspace administrator.

If you need additional control over user permissions, you can edit any custom role at any time from Settings → Roles and Permissions.
