AI Test Generation: More Skills, Smarter Structure, Greater Control
At Testlify, we believe that great assessments start with deep customization. That's why we're continuously evolving our AI-powered test generation - not just to be intelligent, but to be truly adaptable to the unique needs of every enterprise.
Thanks to valuable input from our clients, we've rolled out enhancements that give you unprecedented control over how you build assessments. Here's what's new and why it matters.
1. Generate Assessments with Up to 30 Skills
We heard loud and clear that complex roles demand more than a handful of competencies.
What's changed?
The skills limit for AI-generated tests has been significantly expanded - from 5 to 30 skills for enterprise clients.
Why it matters:
You can now build holistic, multi-dimensional assessments that truly reflect the depth and breadth of real-world roles.
2. Organize Skills with Parent-Child Hierarchy
Skills don't exist in isolation and now, neither do your assessments.
What's changed?
We’ve introduced a structured way to define primary skills and their related sub-skills. You can choose between:
- A simple "->" notation (e.g., Programming -> Python) for quick manual entry, or
- A table-based format with explicit parent assignment for greater clarity.
Why it matters:
This structure helps you mirror real-world skill trees, making your assessments more logical and your candidate evaluations more precise.
3. Set Difficulty Per Skill, Not Per Assessment
One assessment can now serve multiple purposes, thanks to skill-level flexibility.
What's changed?
You can now assign individual difficulty levels (Basic, Intermediate, Advanced) to each skill within the same assessment.
Why it matters:
Test foundational knowledge in one area while evaluating advanced expertise in another, all within a single, seamless experience.
4. Know Your Question Types: Knowledge vs. Ability
Understanding what your assessment actually measures is key to making the right hire.
What's changed?
We're providing clearer transparency into the types of questions our AI generates:
- Knowledge-Based Questions: Test recall of facts, concepts, and learned information, ideal for validating foundational expertise.
- Ability-Based Questions: Assess reasoning, analytical thinking, and problem-solving through practical application.
Our Generate AI tool excels at creating knowledge-based questions. To evaluate ability, we recommend pairing it with Video Questions, designed to capture real-world thinking and communication skills.
Built for Scale. Built for You.
These enhancements aren't just feature updates, they're a direct response to how our clients actually hire. Whether you're evaluating entry-level candidates or senior leaders, you now have the tools to build assessments that match the complexity of the role.
