Viewing Analytics for Custom Questions in Assessments

Testlify now provides enhanced analytics visibility for assessments that include custom questions, helping you better understand candidate performance across every section of your evaluation.

What’s New?

If your assessment contains scorable custom questions, these will now appear directly within the Analytics view alongside other test sections.

This improvement ensures you can evaluate candidate results more holistically without needing to manually interpret custom question scores.

How Custom Question Analytics Work

When reviewing assessment analytics:

  • A new section labeled “Custom questions” will appear on the X-axis of the analytics graph.

This section is always displayed as the rightmost (last) plot for easy identification.

The graph shows candidate performance using:

    • Individual score
    • Assessment average
    • Global average (merged with assessment data for custom questions since global benchmarks are not stored)

👉 Note: Custom question analytics are displayed only when there is at least one scorable custom question in the assessment.

Important Behavior to Know

  • Custom questions are not reused across tests.
  • When you copy an assessment, the questions are duplicated rather than linked, ensuring each assessment maintains independent analytics data.

This prevents score overlap and keeps reporting accurate for every hiring workflow.

Why This Matters

With custom question analytics, you can now:

  • Measure candidate performance beyond pre-built tests
  • Compare results across all sections in one view
  • Make more informed, data-driven hiring decisions
  • Maintain clearer reporting for role-specific evaluations
