Focus Guard (Anti-Cheat Mode) Proctoring

What is Focus Guard?

Focus Guard is a new proctoring feature in Testlify designed to detect AI-assisted cheating tools and any suspicious on-screen activities during an assessment. This feature helps ensure fairness by monitoring the candidate’s screen and flagging unusual behavior in real time.

Why Use Focus Guard?

Some AI applications like Cluely or similar tools run silently in the background and appear instantly using shortcut keys to help candidates answer questions. Focus Guard helps you prevent this by:

  • Detecting sudden pop-ups from AI or assistance tools
  • Monitoring on-screen interactions for unusual activity
  • Flagging any behavior that indicates use of external help
  • Helping you maintain test integrity without additional software

How to Enable Focus Guard

  1. Go to Assessments
  2. Click on the assessment you want to edit
  3. Navigate to Assessment Settings
  4. Open the Proctoring tab
  5. Scroll to find Focus Guard (Anti-Cheat Mode)
  6. Toggle the feature ON

Once enabled, the system automatically tracks the candidate’s screen activity during the test.

How It Works

When Focus Guard is active, Testlify will:

  • Continuously monitor the candidate’s screen
  • Detect AI-triggered pop-ups or suspicious shortcuts
  • Identify any unexpected application launches
  • Flag the candidate for review if such actions occur

These flags will appear in the candidate’s Proctoring Report for your evaluation.

Best Practices

  • Enable Focus Guard for all high-integrity assessments
  • Inform candidates in advance that the session is monitored
  • Combine with other proctoring options (Full-screen mode, Tab Proctoring, Snapshot Proctoring) for maximum security
