Enable or Disable Mobile App Fallback for Audio/Video Questions

Testlify now allows you to enable a mobile app fallback option for audio/video questions—including Voice AI, Video, and Video AI—so candidates can use the Testlify mobile app if their browser doesn’t support direct recording.

This feature ensures candidates on unsupported browsers (e.g., Safari, Firefox, Opera) can still complete assessments seamlessly by switching to the mobile app.

✅ What does it do?

When Mobile app fallback is enabled:

  • Non-Chrome/Edge browsers (e.g., Safari, Firefox): Candidates will see the mobile app as the primary option for recording audio/video responses, since browser recording isn’t supported.

  • Chrome/Edge browsers: Candidates will see browser-based recording as the primary option, but can also use the mobile app as a secondary option if preferred.

When disabled:

  • Non-Chrome/Edge browsers: Candidates are redirected to a “Browser not supported” page and instructed to use Chrome/Edge or the mobile app manually.

  • Chrome/Edge browsers: Candidates will continue with browser-based recording; mobile app option will not appear.

🛠 Steps to Enable Mobile App Fallback

  1. Login to your workspace at app.testlify.com.

  1. Go to the Settings tab. Under the Configuration section, check the box labeled: Enable mobile app fallback for audio/video questions & Click Save to apply changes to your assessment.

A: They can still switch to the mobile app since it’s available as a secondary option.

A: Yes, if the fallback is enabled, they’ll be prompted to use the mobile app instead of being blocked.

Q3: What if we don’t enable fallback?

A: Candidates on unsupported browsers will see a “Browser not supported” screen and must manually switch to Chrome/Edge or install the Testlify mobile app.

Q4: Does this affect only AI-based questions?

🔎 Conclusion

Enabling the mobile app fallback improves candidate accessibility across browsers and devices, reducing drop-offs due to unsupported browsers.
