Ability to Insert Files in Coding Questions

Testlify now offers enhanced file upload capabilities for Coding Questions, enabling you to provide candidates with additional resources or inputs directly within the question. This enhancement improves clarity and flexibility, especially for coding simulations or case-based evaluations.

🆕 Updated Tooltips for Better Usability

To ensure better understanding while creating questions, we’ve updated the tooltips in the editor:

  • Media Upload:

    Old: “Media”

New: “Add image, video or file”

    List Format Options:

    • Unordered listBullet list
    • Ordered listNumbered list

These updated labels make it easier for you to format content and attach relevant files to coding questions.

📁 Upload and Preview CSV Files

You can now upload CSV files directly to coding questions. Here's how it works:

  • CSV files will appear with a preview modal, styled like mac OS file previews for easy readability.
  • This helps candidates quickly interpret structured data within the test environment without needing to download anything.

Preview Example:

📎 Copy File Path & File Options on Hover

When a file (such as CSV or image) is uploaded:

  • Hovering over the file name or clicking the link will display a menu.

    You’ll be able to:

    • Preview the file
    • Copy the file path
    • Remove or replace the file

This mimics the behaviour in platforms like JIRA for intuitive access and control.

⬇️ Drag & Drop Upload Support

You can also drag and drop files into the upload area while creating or editing a coding question. Supported formats include:

  • Images (PNG, JPG, etc.)
  • Videos
  • PDFs
  • CSVs
  • Other documents

All files are rendered in a clean, user-friendly interface upon upload.

🔁 Experience Inspired by JIRA and macOS

The entire file upload and preview workflow has been designed to:

  • Work like JIRA when uploading (smooth, minimal UI)
  • Preview like macOS when opening files (especially CSV)
