Assessment Group and Categorization
At Testlify, we offer the flexibility to create unlimited assessments—each consisting of multiple tests—to help employers evaluate a wide range of candidate skills. To further enhance this experience, we’ve introduced Assessment Groups.
What is an Assessment Group?
Assessment Groups allow candidates to choose one test to attempt from a pre-defined set. This is especially useful when you're looking to evaluate a candidate’s strongest skill area among a group of related competencies.
Example:
If you're hiring for a software development role, the candidate may be familiar with multiple programming languages (e.g., C++, Python, Java, JavaScript). With Assessment Grouping, they can choose to take the test in the language they are most confident in—say, Java.
How to Set Up Assessment Grouping
On the Employer Side
Note: The individual tests must be created first before grouping is possible.
- Create Individual Programming Tests:
- Ensure all the relevant skill tests (e.g., Java, Python) are already created in your workspace.
- Navigate to Settings:
- Click the Settings tab at the top right of your workspace.
- Create a New Group:
- Go to the Groups section.
- Click on the Add button.
- Fill in the required group details (refer to the screenshots for guidance).
- Click Save.
You assessment has now been grouped and mapped!
Share the Invitation Link:
- Click the three-dot menu next to your grouped assessment.
- Select Copy invitation.
- Share the invite via Email, WhatsApp, or Slack—just like using a public link.
Candidate Experience: What They See
Language Selection:
Candidates accessing the invite link are first asked to choose their preferred language from a drop-down menu.
Registration:
After selecting the language, they complete a registration form and enter the verification code.
Assessment Choice:
The candidate sees a list of tests within the group and can choose one to attempt.
Important Notes & Best Practices
Pre-requisite: All tests must be created before grouping.
One Test Per Attempt: Candidates can only choose one test per attempt within an Assessment Group.
Multiple Attempts: If you wish to allow candidates to take more than one test from the group:
- Update the number of attempts in the Assessment Settings.
- Candidates can return to the same link and attempt another test.
Credit Usage: Each time a candidate starts a test, one credit is used, even if they’re from the same group.
Conclusion
Assessment Grouping offers a powerful way to let candidates showcase their strengths while giving hiring managers flexibility and precision in evaluation. By empowering candidates to select the test that best represents their skills, you get more meaningful insights to support better hiring decisions.
