How Multiple Select Question Scoring Works in Testlify
Multiple select questions evaluate a candidate's knowledge by requiring them to identify all correct options from a given set. Scoring depends on which answers are selected — and whether any incorrect ones are included.
Scoring Mechanism
-
Select All Correct Answers: To earn full points, a candidate must select every correct answer for the question. Missing any correct option affects the score.
-
Partial Scoring: Candidates earn partial credit when they select some — but not all — correct answers, provided they do not select any incorrect options.
Example: If a question has three correct answers and a candidate selects two of them correctly, they receive a proportional share of the total points.

-
Zero Score: Selecting any incorrect option results in a score of zero for that question — even if other selected answers are correct. This ensures only candidates with thorough knowledge are awarded points.
Common Issues
-
Skills showing zero: This typically means the candidate either missed one or more correct answers or selected an incorrect answer for a multiple select question.
-
Accuracy is required: Candidates must select every correct option and avoid all incorrect ones to earn a positive score.
Example Scenario
Consider a question with five options, three of which are correct. If a candidate selects only two correct options, or selects two correct and one incorrect option, their score for that question is zero.
