How to Create a Company Test on Testlify
Use this guide to create a company test on Testlify — a reusable, custom-built assessment you configure once and deploy across multiple hiring campaigns.
Before you begin
You need an active Testlify account with Admin or Test Creator permissions. Log in at app.testlify.com using your registered email and OTP.

Step 1: Open the Test Library
After logging in, click the Test Library tab at the top of the screen. This is where you create and manage company tests.

Step 2: Start a new company test
Click the Create Company Test button in the top-right corner of the Test Library.

Step 3: Enter basic test information
On the Basic tab, fill in the required fields:
- Test Name — Enter a descriptive name (e.g., "Programming Test"). This name helps your team identify the test in the library.
- Test Type — Select the appropriate type from the dropdown (e.g., "Programming Skill").
- Covered Skills — Type each skill (e.g., "Java" or "Python") and click Add to include it.
Click Show Options to configure advanced settings:

- Randomize Question Order — Shuffle questions so each candidate sees them in a different sequence.
- Randomize Option Order — Shuffle answer choices within each question.

- Question Count for Candidates — Choose All (every question appears) or Custom (specify how many questions each candidate receives).

- Set Time — Choose Test Level (one overall time limit) or Question Level (a separate time limit per question).

- Time to Complete Test (Test Level only) — Select No Limit or Custom and enter a duration in minutes.

- Difficulty Level — Choose Easy, Medium, Hard, or Challenging.

- Overview (optional) — Briefly describe what candidates should expect from the test.
- Description (optional) — Explain the purpose and content in more detail.
- Relevant For (optional) — Specify target job roles or experience levels.
- Customize Test Instructions — Check this box to replace the default instructions with your own text.
- Language — Select the test language from the dropdown (default: English).
Click Next to proceed.
Step 4: Add questions
You have two options for adding questions to your test:
Option A — Create custom questions
Build your own questions by selecting from the following types:
- Single Select — One correct answer from multiple options.
- Multiple Select — Multiple correct answers from a list.
- Yes or No — Binary response.
- Rating — Scale response (typically 1–10).
- Drop-Down — Select from a dropdown list.
- Ranking — Order options by a specified criterion.
- Open-Ended — Detailed text response.
- Short Answer — Brief text response.
- Number — Numerical answer.
- Fill-in-the-Blank — Complete a sentence with a missing word or phrase.
- Date — Date answer.
- Coding — Write code to solve a problem.
- Typing Test — Measures typing speed and accuracy.
- Spreadsheet — Tests spreadsheet proficiency.
- Document — Tests word processing ability.
- Slides — Tests presentation creation skills.
- Chat Simulation — Assesses live-chat handling ability.
- File Upload — Candidate submits a file.
- Video — Candidate records a video response.
- Audio — Candidate records an audio response.
Tip: Use Upload Bulk Question to import many questions at once instead of adding them individually — a significant time-saver for large tests.

Option B — Use the Testlify Test Library
- Browse or search for questions by skill or topic.
- Select the questions that fit your requirements and click Add.
- Edit the wording, answer options, or parameters as needed.

Step 5: Save the company test
Click Save to store your test. It will now be available in the Test Library for use in any assessment.

Step 6: Build an assessment with your test
- In the Test Library, use the search bar to find your test by name, then click Use.

- You will be taken to the Setup Assessment page. Review the settings and click Next.

- (Optional) To include additional tests, type the test name in the search bar and click Add.

- (Optional) Scroll down and click Next to add more custom or library questions to this assessment.

- Review the Assessment Level Settings — proctoring, scoring, and candidate experience options are configured here. Scroll down and click Save. The assessment will appear under the Assessment tab.

Step 7: Invite candidates
Go to the Assessment tab and click the assessment name to open the candidate invite options.
