Enable and Configure Tab Proctoring
Tab Proctoring in Testlify logs every tab switch a candidate makes during an assessment, giving you a clear record of integrity violations. Follow these steps to enable and configure it.
Before you begin
You need Admin or Assessments Manager permissions in your workspace to change assessment settings.
Step 1: Open Proctoring Settings
- Log in to your Testlify workspace.
- Open the assessment you want to configure.
- Click Assessment Settings, then select the Proctoring tab.

Step 2: Enable Tab Proctoring
- In the Proctoring tab, find the Tab Proctoring option.
- Check the box next to Tab Proctoring to turn it on.
- When enabled, Testlify automatically logs each tab switch as a violation.

Step 3: Configure Violation Handling
- Choose how the system responds to each tab switch:
- Warn — the candidate receives a warning and the assessment continues.
- Terminate — the assessment ends automatically when the violation limit is reached.
- If you select Terminate, set a Violation Limit. Candidates who exceed the limit are automatically disqualified.
Tip: Choose Warn to review tab-switch behavior without automatic disqualification. All violations are still logged so you can decide after the assessment ends.

Step 4: Review Violation Logs
- Every tab switch is recorded as a violation in the candidate's assessment report.
- Open the candidate's report after the assessment ends to view the full violation log.
