How to Capture Additional Candidate Information in Testlify

Testlify lets you collect custom candidate information during assessments — beyond the default email field. Add fields for resumes, LinkedIn profiles, educational documents, and more so you have everything you need before reviewing results.

Before you begin

The candidate information form only appears when Registration is enabled for individual invites. Enable it first:

Assessment Settings > Pages > Enable Registration (Individual invite).

Steps to capture additional candidate information

1. Open Assessment Settings

Navigate to the Settings of the assessment where you want to collect additional candidate information.

2. Click the Information tab

The Information tab shows Email as a mandatory default field. First Name, Last Name, and Phone Number are also available — mark each as optional or required based on your needs.

3. Add custom fields

Click Add to create a custom field for specific data such as resumes, educational documents, or LinkedIn profiles.

4. Select an input type

Choose the input type that matches the data you want to collect:

  • Text — open-ended responses
  • Dropdown — predefined options for the candidate to select
  • Number — numerical inputs
  • Email — email addresses
  • URL — web links such as LinkedIn profiles or personal websites
  • File upload — documents such as resumes, certificates, or other supporting files
  • Checkbox — agreements or confirmations, such as accepting assessment terms
    • Tip: Add a clickable link inside the checkbox label using the format {Link text: URL}. Example: I agree to the {Terms of Use:https://help.testlify.com/article/298-how-to-capture-additional-candidate-information-in-testlify}. Candidates must check the box to confirm they have read the linked page before proceeding.

5. Mark fields as required

Toggle a field to Required to ensure candidates submit it before completing the assessment.
