How to Preview an Assessment as a Candidate on Testlify

Previewing an assessment from the candidate's perspective lets you verify that questions, settings, and proctoring configurations are correct before inviting candidates. Follow these steps to experience the assessment exactly as your candidates will — including all question types and active proctoring rules.

Step-by-Step Guide

1. Log in to your Testlify account and navigate to the Assessments tab.

2. Select the assessment you want to preview from the list of available assessments.

3. Click Preview on the assessment details page to view the test in the same format your candidates will see.

   
   

   

   
   

4. Complete the assessment by answering questions across all question types — multiple choice, open-ended, coding challenges — and go through any enabled proctoring steps.

   

   
   

5. Review the results once you finish — you will see them exactly as a candidate would, including scores and any feedback.

   

   
   

6. Observe any active proctoring restrictions you have enabled — such as tab-switching alerts or full-screen mode — to confirm they work as expected before going live.

Important Note

If an internal workspace member takes the assessment, no candidate credit is charged. Credits are only deducted when an external candidate enrolls for an assessment.
