Get Started with Testlify

This guide walks you through every step of getting started with Testlify — from creating your account to viewing candidate results. Follow the steps below to set up your workspace and run your first assessment.

Step 1: Create Your Account

  1. Go to Testlify's website and click Sign Up.
  2. Enter your details, or sign up using an existing business account (Google or Microsoft).

Step 2: Set Up Your Workspace

After signing up, you'll be prompted to configure your workspace — the central hub where you create assessments and collaborate with your team.

  1. Enter a workspace name that reflects your company or team.
  2. Go to Settings > Users to invite team members who will help manage or create assessments.

Step 3: Navigate the Dashboard

The Testlify Dashboard gives you a full view of your activity. Here's what you'll find:

  • Assessments: Create, customize, and manage all your assessments.
  • Candidates: Monitor candidate progress, view results, and analyze data.
  • Reports: Generate detailed reports on test outcomes.
  • Analytics: Track assessment and candidate performance in real time. View performance trends, analyze time taken per question, and identify strengths and areas for improvement across assessments.

Step 4: Create Your First Assessment

  1. Go to the Assessments tab and click Create New Assessment.
  2. Choose from predefined templates based on industry standards, or build from scratch.
  3. Browse the Test Library to add questions. Filter by skill type — technical, cognitive, or soft skills — and by difficulty (basic, intermediate, or advanced).
  4. Set Time Limits for the entire assessment or for individual sections.
  5. Add Candidate Instructions to provide guidelines or context before the test begins.

Tip: Use the search bar in the Test Library to quickly find questions relevant to a specific role or skill set.

Step 5: Invite Candidates

  1. Once your assessment is ready, click Invite Candidates.
  2. Enter candidate email addresses and send the invitations.

Step 6: View Results and Reports

After candidates complete the assessment:

  1. Go to the Candidates tab to track each candidate's progress.
  2. Open Reports to view detailed performance data, including individual question scores and time taken.
  3. Download or share reports as a PDF with your team or clients.
