Manage Audio and Video Recordings: 90-Day Retention Policy

Overview

Testlify automatically deletes all candidate audio and video recordings 90 days after their submission date. This protects candidate privacy and ensures compliance with data protection regulations.

Before You Begin

To access candidate recordings, navigate to Assessments > open an assessment > select a candidate's Report. Audio and video files appear in the Proctoring or Responses tab, depending on the question type.

How the 90-Day Policy Works

  • When a candidate submits an assessment with audio or video, the file is securely stored on Testlify.
  • The recording remains available for review and download for up to 90 days from the submission date.
  • After 90 days, the recording is permanently and automatically deleted — no exceptions, and no recovery is possible.
  • Deletion requires no manual action from you.
  • This policy applies to all assessments that include audio or video recordings.

Download Recordings Before They Expire

  1. Open the candidate's Report in Testlify promptly after assessment submission.
  2. Review all audio and video recordings within the candidate's report.
  3. Download any files you need to retain for your records.
  4. Set a calendar reminder at the time of submission so you don't miss the 90-day window.

Example

A candidate submits an assessment with a video recording on January 1. The recording is available to download until March 31. After that date, Testlify permanently deletes it and it cannot be retrieved.
