Introduction

At Testlify, we understand that candidates may have different needs to perform optimally on assessments. This could be due to non-native language fluency or disabilities affecting memory and cognition. To ensure a fair and unbiased hiring process, Testlify provides the option for candidates to request accommodation. This feature is available to users with Owner and Admin roles.

Note: Any granted accommodations apply to all tests from the Testlify library, company-created custom tests, and custom questions (except video).

Types of Accommodations available

Before starting an assessment, candidates are asked about their fluency in the assessment language and any conditions affecting memory or cognitive abilities. If they indicate a need for accommodations, the Employer makes adjustments to enhance their testing experience.

Note: The option to request accommodations is disabled by default but can be turned on under the 'Configuration' tab in Assessment Settings during the assessment creation process.

Why does Testlify offer this feature?

As assessment providers, we adhere to guidelines set by agencies such as the EEOC ensuring our tools comply with legal standards. This enables our customers to use Testlify without concerns about legal compliance.

According to the US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) prohibits:

  • Using employment tests that exclude individuals with disabilities.

  • Failing to select and administer tests effectively to reflect the skills and aptitudes they are intended to measure.

  • Not making reasonable accommodations, including during test administration, for individuals with disabilities.

This means our tests must provide accommodation options to be compliant and usable by our customers.

How can Employers enable this process?

For candidates to be able to request for accommodation, the Employer should have enabled this feature from the Assessment Settings as seen below:

Overview of the process from request to assessment Impact

Once this setting is enabled and candidates are invited to the assessment, the candidate invite email will mention a one-liner about have this option to request accommodation.

When candidate clicks on the link it will redirect them to the form which they have to fill to request accommodation.

Please Note: Comment box will only appear if candidate selects โ€œYesโ€œ for the second question.

Once candidate submits the form the screen will display a message stating their request has been sent.

Subsequently the Employer will receive an email notifying them of the candidate's request.

After reviewing the candidate request, the Employer needs to click on the hyperlinked guide that would outline the necessary steps to be taken to implement the accommodated request.

After the required changes are made in the assessment, the Employer can send a fresh assessment invite to the candidate. The candidate can then click on 'Start Assessment' button in the updated invite to access and complete the assessment.

Granting accommodation requests

The Approval or non-approval of the accommodation request is at the sole discretion of the Employer. Additionally the changes to be implemented in assessment to fulfill the accommodated request should be done only by the Employer. The Testlify team is in no way responsible for coordinating or providing the necessary assistance for these requests.

However our support team would be happy to clarify any questions that the Employer might have in taking forward this process. Please email us at [email protected].

Examples of reasonable accommodation employers can provide to candidates
