Show Assessment Completion Progress When Resumed

Overview

When a candidate resumes an assessment after leaving it before completion, Testlify now provides a clear view of their progress across all assessment sections.

Previously, sections that had already been completed were hidden from the assessment overview, making it difficult for candidates to understand what had already been submitted and what still needed to be completed.

With this enhancement, all assessment sections remain visible when the assessment is resumed. Each section displays its current status, allowing candidates to quickly identify completed, in-progress, and pending sections before continuing the assessment.

About This Article

This article explains how the Assessment Completion Progress feature works when a candidate resumes an assessment.

After resuming an assessment, candidates can:

  • View every section included in the assessment.
  • Identify which sections have already been submitted.
  • See how many questions remain in incomplete sections.
  • View the remaining time available for sections that are still in progress.
  • Continue the assessment without losing visibility into their overall progress.

This improvement provides a more transparent assessment experience and helps candidates resume exactly where they left off.

How Assessment Progress is Displayed

When a candidate resumes an assessment, the assessment overview page displays the status of every section.

1. All Assessment Sections are Displayed

All sections are shown, regardless of whether they are:

  • Completed
  • In progress
  • Not yet started

Unlike the previous behavior, completed sections are no longer hidden after submission.

Benefits:

  • Provides a complete overview of the assessment.
  • Allows candidates to review what has already been completed.
  • Makes it easier to understand the remaining workload.

2. Completed Sections

For every section that has already been submitted:

  • A Submitted badge is displayed.
  • The section remains visible in the assessment list.
  • The timer is hidden because no additional time is required for completed sections.

Example:

JavaScript: Entry-level Test ✓ Submitted

3. In-Progress or Incomplete Sections

For sections that have been started but are not yet completed, Testlify displays:

  • The number of remaining questions.
  • The remaining time available for that section.

Example:

Alpha-numeric Typing Test

4/10 questions remaining

30:50 remaining

This helps candidates understand exactly how much work is left before they continue.

4. Not Yet Started Sections

Sections that have not been started continue to behave as before.

They display their standard information, including:

  • Section name
  • Question count (if applicable)
  • Section duration or Untimed status

No additional progress badge is shown until the section has been started.

What Candidates Will See

When resuming an assessment, candidates can immediately identify:

Section Status Display
Completed Submitted badge with no timer
In Progress X/Y questions remaining and remaining time
Not Started Standard section information

This gives candidates a complete picture of their assessment progress before continuing.

Example

In the example below:

  • The first two JavaScript sections have already been completed and display a Submitted badge.
  • The Alpha-numeric Typing Test is partially completed and shows 4/10 questions remaining along with the remaining time.
  • The Coding Test has not yet been started and continues to display its normal information.
  • The final Questions section displays its remaining duration before completion.

This allows candidates to clearly understand which sections are complete and which still require attention.

Benefits

Displaying assessment progress when an assessment is resumed offers several advantages:

  • Provides complete visibility into all assessment sections.
  • Eliminates confusion caused by hidden completed sections.
  • Clearly distinguishes completed, in-progress, and pending sections.
  • Helps candidates manage their remaining time more effectively.
  • Creates a smoother and more intuitive assessment experience.

Conclusion

The Show Assessment Completion Progress When Resumed feature improves the candidate experience by providing a comprehensive overview of assessment progress whenever an assessment is resumed.

Candidates can easily identify completed sections through the Submitted badge, monitor remaining questions and time for sections still in progress, and view all assessment sections in one place. This enhanced visibility helps candidates confidently continue their assessment without losing track of their progress.
