This article is relevant to all the candidates appearing for a test with Testlify. Some of the troubleshooting factors are included as well.

Account-Related Questions

1. Can I create an account on Testlify?

No, you can’t create an account on Testlify.

Testlify is a hiring platform with 250+ pre-employment tests to aid companies in their hiring process. So we allow account creation of companies with a personalized domain only. No personal or educational email addresses are allowed.

2. Why is my email address not being accepted while registering for an account?

You can’t create an account on Testlify unless you are a company trying to hire for a job role. If you are a candidate going to appear for a test, you will not be able to create an account or register.

Assessment and Test Questions

1. Are the tests available in different languages?

No, the tests are not available in multiple languages now. Our complete library is in English.

2. Can I go back to the previous question?

No, you can’t. 

If you attempt to skip a question, the system will warn you that you cannot return. If you are unsure of the answer to a question, we recommend you try guessing. There is no penalty for wrong answers. Better to score a point through luck than to skip and guarantee no points for that question.

3. Can I skip a question?

Yes, you can skip a question. 

To skip a question, click on Next to move to the next question. The system will warn you about this. If you are sure, you can still move to the next question. 

4. Can I try the assessment again?

No, you can’t try the assessment once you have completed it. 

If you have any issues regarding the test and want to reappear it, contact the hiring company. The decision of your reappearing the test depends on them.

5. I have a condition that affects my ability to memorize or concentrate. Do you provide accommodations for me?

No, we do not have any such accommodations currently. But we are continuously working towards improving the candidate experience.

6. I followed the link embedded in the email, but it shows “The assessment is no longer available”/”The assessment is currently not available”. What should I do?

Testlify has no permission to make a test available under any circumstances. This is something in the control of the hiring company.

If you do not find the test, it might be because the company might have closed it. We recommend you contact the concerned company.

7. I need more time to complete my assessment. What should I do?

There is a certain deadline that a company sets for the completion of the test. So you should take appropriate steps to complete the test within the time frame.

If you still want extra time, you can contact the concerned company.

8. I want to take a test. Can I take it?

No, you can’t take a test until you are invited. Testlify does not allow any of its tests for studying, educational purposes, or personal use.

9. Why did the assessment end only after a few questions?

This is most likely because the company you applied to has included qualifying questions in the assessment.

Qualifying questions ensure that only those candidates who meet the company’s minimum requirements are allowed to take the complete test. If one of your answers disqualifies you, the assessment will end, saving you time.

If you think you have been disqualified by mistake, you can contact the concerned company. Testlify has no authority to allow you to retake the test.

10. What happens if I run out of time?

If the timer expires on an individual test or question, your progress is saved. The next test or question will begin. If you run out of time on the last question, the assessment is marked as complete, and the results are sent to the company.

11. Why did the timer continue counting down even after I left the test?

This is one of our measures to ensure the integrity of the test results. This cannot be turned off. 

Even if you completely close the test window, the timer will continue to count down. Breaks should only be taken between tests only when allowed to.

Data and Privacy Questions

1. Why do I have to accept a privacy policy?

A Privacy Policy is a standard practice for any website or service that captures information from you. It states how we store your information and who we share it with, in compliance with GDPR and SOC2. If you do not accept, you will be unable to take your assessment.

2. Why do I have to accept cookies?

We ask you to allow cookies on the very first screen of your assessment. These cookies allow us to track the technical aspects of your test. This helps us to provide technical support if something goes wrong during the assessment. In compliance with GDPR.

You have the legal right to decline cookies, but we will not be able to aid you with any technical assistance then.

3. Why do you need to access my webcam?

We need access to your camera for two reasons:

  • If the company has set any video questions, we need access to your camera for you to to record your answers. Only the company has access to these and they are stored in compliance with GDPR.
  • We take snapshots of you every 30 seconds during your assessment. This is part of our anti-cheating proctoring. It ensures that nobody is helping you and that the assessment taker is the same person who is interviewed or hired. Only the hiring company has access to these snapshots and they are stored within GDPR regulations. If there are video questions in your assessment, you will still need to enable your camera.

4. Is Testlify GDPR and SOC2 compliant?

Yes, Testlify is GDPR and SOC2 compliant.

Equipment and Connectivity Questions

1. Can I take the assessment on a mobile device?

Yes, you can take an assessment on a mobile device. But we recommend using a laptop or a desktop since the small screen of a mobile can make answering certain questions difficult.

If the assessment contains questions that require the use of programming skills, you will be shown a warning that discourages you from taking the assessment on a mobile device. This is because writing code on a mobile device can be difficult.

2. I do not have a webcam and my assessment has video questions. What should I do?

In such cases, you can try appearing in the test from a different computer or laptop.

If you do not have such options, you can contact the concerned company to make alternate arrangements.

3. I was disconnected from the internet. When I reconnected, my test was finished. What should I do?

Your timer continues to count down even though you left the test. 

This measure applies to all the candidates even though you are facing any technical difficulties. In such cases, we recommend you to contact the concerned company for another assessment..

4. Why is my camera display black/blank?

This can happen for several reasons. Here is what you can do to try and remedy it:

  • Ensure you have granted permission for your browser to access your camera.
  • Ensure you are using a supported browser. We recommend using Google Chrome as the default browser for the assessments.
  • If you have multiple camera devices, ensure you have given your browser and our website permission to use the rightdevice.
  • Try launching the assessment in incognito mode/in a private window.
  • Ensure your camera drivers and web browser are up to date.
  • Restart your device and try accessing the assessment again using the link in the invitation email.

5. The questions are loading slowly or my test has frozen. What should I do?

This mostly happens because of poor internet connection. If your internet conncetion is slow or unstable, you will face difficulties in loading questions and saving answers. We recommend running an internet speed test before attempting the test to ensure a smooth assessment.

Since a small disconnection can lead to termination from the test, be extra cautious about your internet connection.

Invitation and Communication Questions

1. Can I have feedback on my application?

Testlify, as a hiring platform for the companies, does not have any access to your job application status or feedback on your application. It is completely in control of the company you have applied to, and you can contact them for feedback when needed.

2. Can I see my results?

The company that has issued the assessment can send you the results though it is not compulsory that they do so.

If you want your results, you can contact them directly. Testlify is just the hiring tool and can’t provide results on a company’s behalf.

3. How do I contact the company I applied for?

You can connect to the company you have applied for by any means that they have provided in their job postings. 

Additionally, you can find the contact details in any emails that they have sent you or on their company website. Testlify does not have any contact details we can share for a potential employer.

4. I am using a public invitation link, but my email address is not accepted. What should I do?

Since all email addresses are processed through an email validation service that prevents the use of high-risk emails, you should first check that your email address is typed correctly.

Your email address may be mistaken for a fraudulent account if:

  • it contains a lot of numbers or characters
  • it is new
  • it is frequently used to send unsolicited emails

If you are sure that your email address is correct but is still not being accepted, please contact us by sending an email to help@testlify.comfrom the email address you'd like to use for the assessment.

5. I have completed my assessment. What happens next?

Once you complete an assessment, you will get a message that reads:

“Thank you for completing the assessment. You can close this window now.”

After completion, your answers will be saved and sent to the hiring manager. You do not receive any email from Testlify system regarding the completion of the assessment.

Testlify has no role in the recruitment process of any company. Since the decisions are solely made by the hiring company, we do not provide any updates or time frames.

6. I have not received my email invitation. What should I do?

If you are expecting an email from us regarding an assessment, check the Spam folder of your email. If you find it there, mark it as Not Spam to receive further updates from us.

If you do not find the email there, contact us so that we can investigate.

7. Why did I receive a reminder if I have already completed the assessment?

If you receive a reminder, double-check to ensure that you have successfully completed the assessment by following the link embedded in the email.

In some cases, the companies have some additional questions at the end of an assessment that can be missed. This can resul in your assessment not being marked as complete. So it is better to double-check.

Once you have successfully completed an assessment, you will find the following message at the end - 

“Thank you for completing the assessment. You can close this window now.”

If you are sure that you have completed the assessment but still are receiving reminders, contact us.

8. When should I contact Testlify, and when should I contact the company?

Whenever you are facing any technical difficulties or if you want to provide a feedback regarding a test, you can contact us

For all other updates like job application, status of your application, test content, deadlines, extra time, and so on, we recommend contacting the concerned company for fast and direct answers to your queries. Testlify has no role to play in the hiring process.

1. Can you help me find a job?

Unfortunately, we can’t. Testlify is not any job placement forum, it provides pre-employment skill assessments for companies that are actively hiring. FOr job searching, we recommend using platforms like LinkedIn, Indeed, or any similar job forum.

2. Can you provide me with any official qualifications?

No, we do not provide any official certifications or qualifications. We only provide pre-employment skill assessments to actively hiring companies.

3. I need a personality test / PAR/certificate of language proficiency for my job. Can you give me one?

We do not offer this service. We do not offer any of our tests for personal use, studying, or educational purposes, nor do we issue certificates of completion.
